Let’s welcome Melissa C. as our athlete spotlight member for the month of December!
She just hit a year at KADA and what better way to celebrate that than to acknowledge all of her hard work and dedication!! We are so proud of her…her commitment, presence in the community and obvious jovial attitude she brings to the gym every day

My fitness journey started pretty rocky. I’ve always been unhappy, angry, and overweight to some degree. I played sports through my highschool career while battling an eating disorder – that didn’t go very well. Eventually I started running and it made me feel better. I heard about the dreaded crossfit and avoided it like the plague until classmate took me through a WOD – I was instantly hooked. Crossfit has given me everything I was lacking: strength, confidence, a healthy way to release my stress and anger, and mental clarity.
Since starting with KADA I’ve lost weight, gained a ton of strength and confidence, but more importantly I’ve gained a new outlook and healthier habits. Always trust the process!
I’m a sucker for Olympic lifts and deadlifting. If there’s any strength based WOD I’m there. There aren’t movements I don’t like, there are just movements I’m not good at – gymnastics anything. I vow 2019 is going to be the year I get gymnasty!
Current goals I have:
Increase my overall Olympic total from 285# to 350#.
Climb a rope.
Do a pullup (or 10)

My daughter keeps me the most motivated. I want her growing up seeing that women are healthy, strong, and confident. I don’t want her falling to society’s warped beauty standards.
