Athlete Spotlight – February – Beth B.

Athlete Spotlight – February – Beth B.

Tell me about your fitness journey:

My husband was previously a personal trainer and I never worked out until I met him. So naturally to impress him, I bought some BeBe Sport and let him train me at the local gym. However, the first session we had, he asked me to run a mile. I cried right there on the treadmill, I hadn’t ran a mile since high school. While tears ran down my face, I asked him if we could go out to eat instead.

I’ve come a long way since then.

His personal training, college group fitness classes, and new love for running had changed my mind since that day on the tredmill.

Eventually I started Crossfit in 2010, I felt like I was a regular pioneer of the crossfit days.

I’ve done it off and on again depending on where I lived (IL and CO).  After giving birth to my daughter Bella, I dove into the world of yoga, but my heart has always belonged to a barbell.

My mom is still in disbelief of how much weight I can lift. She constantly reminds me of when I was 10 years old and told her how heavy a loaf of bread was. Somethings we can never live down.

Since starting with KADA, what changes have you seen:

For the first time, I started to do crossfit 5 days a week (more than my usual 2 or 3 days a week). My arms are jacked.

I’ve consistently been eating well (well until now, since baby #2 is on the way, it loves carbs).

I also worked back up to my pre-baby PR lifts!

What workouts/movements are your favorite and what are your least favorite:

FAV – Cleans, Snatches, Hand Stand Push Ups

Least – rowing, strict anything, and wall balls (eye roll emoji)

What are your current goals:

Being pregnant, I want to consistently be at the gym.

When I had my first kiddo, I worked out 5 times during my entire pregnancy. I want to make sure I keep showing up this time around!

What keeps you motivated:

People & Taylor Swift Songs. I really love the social aspect of crossfit…. I could come every day and hang out with my 5:30 peeps (and eat cake with everyone).

I love that we all get up early, work out at 5:30 am, eat breakfast, shower, all while everyone else is still asleep.

It feels very accomplishing to get all that done before 8 am.

What is your stress reliever and how do you like to relax:

I love blaring music in the car or Brittney & Tay-Tay at 5:30 am so everyone can walk in hearing inspiration for the day.

Lifting heavy weights if I’ve got stressful things on my mind.

WOOO HOOOOing during a WOD – especially as stuff gets heavy.

Reading a good book before bed.

What is your favorite go-to healthy meal:

Breakfast chicken minis from Chick-Fil-A.

Bell peppers are good too….

I wouldn’t mix the 2 though.
