Since starting with KADA, what changes have you seen in your health and fitness:
I have a lot better cardio and am a lot stronger. When I first came to Kada I had done crossfit but at a bigger box so there was not a lot of individualized training or strength based movements. We would do a WOD then leave. I like that I am consistently PR’ing in lifts and in times I can do workouts. I also like that I feel more confident in my abilities to do things, Kada pushes us to do things and to our limits so I feel the need to do that in my every day life. If I feel strong at the box, I know I’m strong outside the box, not just physically but mentally. Your mind is more than half the battle with lifts and work outs and if you can defeat your mind in the box, which Kada teaches us to do (embrace the suck), then I can certainly do that in my everyday life.
What workouts/movements are your favorite and what are your least favorite:
Anyone who knows me, knows that cleans are my absolute favorite lift. I would do them everyday all day if I could! I surprisingly do not like dead lifts which seems to be a big favorite for everyone.
What are your current goals:
My current goal is to be able to do a pull-up and of course up the weight of my cleans.
What keeps you motivated:
The way I look and feel. It’s super motivating to see results, but more motivating to feel results. I also like going to work and being able to do push ups with the boys, or play sports with them and keep up them. I used Kada to help me recover from shoulder surgery. It keeps me highly motivated that I am stronger now than I was pre surgery, which I never thought I would be able to do.
What is your stress reliever and how do you like to relax:
I relax by doing puzzles (if you are friends with me on facebook or instagram) I post pictures every few days of 1000 piece puzzles that I complete. I also like to read books. Obviously, the best stress reliever is going to Kada, it’s like family no matter what class it is! Whether it’s the 7pm or the 0830 am class, it’s always fun and a good place to go and not think for awhile.
What is your favorite go-to healthy meal:
Do Rx bars count? If not.. Then I really like cooking chicken in a pan with some olive oil until it is a little burnt and adding Mrs. Dash Southwest seasoning. I also saute vegetables, specifically red, green and yellow bell peppers with broccoli and cauliflower. Also until a tad burnt. Add some hot sauce, delicious! It’s very easy to just put every thing in one pan, add some olive oil and seasoning and cook it. Bonus if you add cut up sweet potatoes.
